![]() These type of people will relish the chance to own dozens and dozens of cars in their virtual garage, tweaking each one for a specific purpose. Street Racing Syndicate looks like it will be the perfect title for gamers that also subscribe to Import Tuner. If full-on customization is your thing then you'll adore this addition. You'll be able to measure differences in power, torque, etc., as you add parts to your car. This device, which looks like a car stage with rollers, allows you to see the direct results of your car customizations. For gamers that are really into racing, the addition of the Dyno is the most exciting enhancement to the game. This way, you get a general idea of whether the opposition is in your league or not. When picking an opponent you'll get an estimate of how much money was invested in your potential foe's car, but you won't know the exact amount. Players will be able to race each other competitively and even bet their cars online. The Xbox and PlayStation 2 versions of the game will feature Internet capabilities (the latter version powered by GameSpy). For most gamers, the biggest addition to SRS is its online play. Since my recent dalliance with interior decorating has left me an aesthetic wunderkind, I'm thrilled at this addition to SRS. The last time I saw the game, the only tweaks that could be made were under the hood. Decals, logos, and more can now be applied to your dream machines. Vehicle customization has been extended to the car's aesthetics. The damage model has been tweaked to allow for nastier looking dings, dents, and scrapes. The cars in SRS have more versatility than before. The developers are hoping that the cop factor will add variety to the racing. Since you participate in illegal races (and the not-so-legal swapping of ladies) the fuzz will be on your ass like Boss Hogg and Roscoe. Mixing the old with the new, SRS now steals from The Dukes of Hazzard in that cops now play a big part of the game. There will be city levels that have a fairly open feel, as well as traditional racing tracks. The latest version of SRS features a better mix of open and closed tracks.
